Thomson Local Directories 2003 - 2020
I am a creative and passionate digital designer with over 17 years of experience as the in-house Senior Graphic Designer for Thomson Local Directories. In my spare time, I volunteer my services as Marketing and Design Manager for the National Bullying Helpline. I joined Thomson Local in 2003 creating highly targeted print advertising in the Ad Manufacture Department. During my career at Thomson Local, I have held various design roles including:
Ad Manufacture Designer
Working to high productivity and accuracy targets creating post-sale customer advertising for the Thomson Local Directory.
Sales Visualiser
Supporting a team of Field Sales Representatives, helping secure sales with speculative customer artwork and supporting sales documents.
Campaign Designer
Working with the Direct Marketing and Media Production team creating B2B and B2C html email campaigns for Thomson Local and their customers.
Creative Designer (Marketing Department)
Responsible for all internal and external Marketing artwork including Social Media, Interactive telesales scripts, sales aids, training documentation and the company intranet.
Senior Graphic Designer
Working with the IT and Development department, my responsibilities included thomsonlocal.com, UX projects including the development of a customer-facing web builder platform and an e-commerce site for Thomson Local services, Website Templates, Product Development, Exhibition Stands, SEO and Marketing artwork for Thomson Local and its sister companies.
National Bullying Helpline 2001 - Present
Volunteer Design and Marketing Manager
I first started helping the National Bullying Helpline as a volunteer designer just before the charities launch in 2001. I created their logo and promotional material for the launch at the House of Commons.
In 2017 I designed and built the National Bullying Helplines, E-Crime Action website. A dedicated website providing information and advice related to cyberbullying.
In 2018 I re-built the National Bullying Helpline main website to help improve its online presence and reach a wider audience. Since taking over the website management, visitors have increased from 4,300 in 2017 to over 500,000 in 2020. Since its re-launch in 2018 the National Bullying Helpline website has generated over £50,000 in passive income for this great cause.

Education
Art has always been my passion and a big part of my life. From an early age, some of my work was displayed in the local library and at age 11, I won an Art Scholarship to attend an Independent boarding school near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. I studied A-level Fine Art, Graphic Design and Graphic Communication at the Farnborough 6th Form collage and then went on to Farnham Art College (UCA) to complete a foundation course in Art and Design.
After spending 6 years away from home at an early age, I decided that going away again to attend a university was not for me.
Software
The closest thing we had to computer software at college was an airbrush and lightbox! Today my go-to is the Adobe Creative Suite, but any software can be learnt. 6 months after joining Thomson Local and with no prior design or computer experience, I was running a series of training coursed to help some of the Artists transition from drawing boards to a digital format.
